I think after all of the blog posts I’ve written, as much as I talk about it, post about it, etc. everyone knows that my dream has always been to move to New York.
Well…I MOVED! … To Seattle! LOL!
It’s definitely not New York, but Seattle is a beautiful city with so much to see and do. I feel Seattle is a great stepping stone to get to a place that I feel most at home.

Let’s get into the “Why Seattle?”
My last job I was working as an Event Lead, which I didn’t mind doing before I took the job. I loved working at a venue so close to home, but there were things happening where I needed to leave to do what I really wanted to do.
I started marketing for my own clients and other possible companies when I was scrolling Instagram stories and my cousin, who has lived in Seattle for the last 5 years, posted that the event company she works for was hiring for some positions, one being an Event Coordinator. I always saw her posting and talking about how much she loves her company, the people she works for, and her job.
I reached out to her, kinda jokingly if I should move to Seattle and asked if she could tell me more about the position and company. She told me if I was serious, to email my resumé to her boss.
After reading all the benefits and great things she had to say about the position and company I took the day to think about it and brought it up to my mom and sister. My mom was a little shocked as Seattle was a city I visited and said I could never live in (LOL!) and my sister was pushing me to apply and not be “a chicken”.
I had lots of emotions running through my head the next day thinking about moving to a new city, a different state, away from my family, all the things.
As I was still debating to send in my resumé, my dad called me and asked what “the secrecy” was about between my mom and I, but I told him it wasn’t a secret, it just came up the day before, I told him about the job, and that I was considering it. He went on to tell me that I should apply for the job, this is what I’ve been wanting, and how proud he was of me. *cue the tears* Yes, I was crying on the phone while my dad was telling me all this.
So, shortly after, *swoosh sound* there went my resumé to Seattle. And the next day I was asked to have a phone interview the day after.
I had never been so nervous for a phone interview in my life! And I shouldn’t have been. The first phone interview was super chill, the second one is the one I should have been nervous about and wasn’t! It was full of ALL the interview questions I was expecting in the first interview, but went SO well. I enjoyed talking to both Directors which was a great sign.
The next morning I was at the gym about to start a partner workout with my sister when I get a call from the Director I first spoke to with an offer asking how soon I could get to Seattle.
During the interviews I felt this was the right company for me.
So, I accepted the job offer and a month later I packed up my car and my parents drove with me up to Seattle!
It’s been 2 months of living in Sea-Town and it has been a wild ride so far! Hello Wedding Season!
I love having my own space, I love exploring who I am away from my family, really being independent and doing things outside of my comfort zone.
I love my job, I love the people I work for, I think Seattle is a beautiful city (still haven’t seen it all yet), but I know Seattle will not be my forever home. I love it right now, I think it’s a great city, and I can’t wait to see what the next couple of years in Seattle have in store for me!
I’m hoping with how quickly this company is growing, more opportunities arise (in a possible new location :P) in the future. But for now, I am so excited to explore more and be a part of Seattle!
I hope this inspires you to take a leap towards your dream!
